The ceremony of installing a test pile of the future fencing center took place in the capital of Bashkiria. The ceremony was attended by the head of the republic and Olympic fencing champions Sofia Velikaya, Timur Safin and Sofia Pozdnyakova.
The guests put a rapier into the symbolic stone, set in honor of the start of the construction of the facility.
– This Palace is a gratitude to our fencers, Olympians, who brought a huge number of medals to the treasury of Bashkortostan, – Radiy Khabirov wrote in social networks. – We have a good tradition of naming large sports facilities after great athletes. This Center will bear the name of the honored coach of the RSFSR and the USSR, who unfortunately left us last year – Ramil Ismagilovich Ayupov. This decision was unanimous.
The fencing center will open its doors in 2024 and will become one of the facilities being built for the 450th anniversary of Ufa. It will be possible to hold major competitions in the complex, the site will have two universal and two specialized halls, a recovery center, locker rooms. On the street, builders are equipping a multifunctional sports box and treadmills.
