In Russia, a digital identity card will soon appear. “It works very simply: you upload a photo from a biometric passport to your smartphone, then a QR code is generated for you, which you present. And the one who wants to check your foundation checks your age, or last name, first name, patronymic from the mobile application “Gosuslugi”, the minister explained.
According to him, such technology in 80% of cases where identity verification is needed will allow using a smartphone instead of a passport.
By the way, the Ministry of Digital Transformation announced the appearance of a new service in the mobile application “Gosuslugi” – “Confirmed Photo”. While it works in pilot mode, but now you can try to use its capabilities. To upload a verified photo, all you need is a biometric passport and an NFC-enabled smartphone. The message clarifies that the service will help in simple situations when you need to show your passport or confirm your age, for example, in a store.
