Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit the active phase of the Vostok-2022 strategic exercises during a trip to the Far East, press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov said.

“On September 6, he will work in Vladivostok itself. The strategic command and staff exercises of the armed forces “Vostok-2022” begin there. The president will visit the active phase of these strategic exercises on September 6, ”Peskov said (quote according to TASS).

Large-scale command and staff exercises “Vostok-2022” will be held in Russia from 1 to 7 September. During the exercises, issues of using groupings of troops to ensure military security in the Eastern Region will be worked out, the Russian Defense Ministry noted.

The training grounds of the Eastern Military District “Bidzhansky”, “Burduny”, “Anna Bay” and others, as well as the waters and coastal areas of the Sea of ​​Okhotsk and the Sea of ​​Japan, will be involved in the exercises. The exercises will be held under the leadership of Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces. The forces involved in the exercises will return to their permanent deployment points by the end of September.

The last time Putin attended military exercises was in February, during the active phase of the Russian-Belarusian exercises “Allied Resolve 2022”. They took place at five training grounds of the republic – “Gozhsky”, “Brestsky”, “Domanovsky”, “Osipovichsky” and “Obuz-Lesnovsky”. The exercise was also attended by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.

At the end of August, it became known that the Russian Navy and the Chinese Navy will work out interaction in the northern and central parts of the Sea of ​​Japan as part of the Vostok-2022 exercises. The Japanese authorities, in turn, expressed concern about the ongoing exercises, since they are taking place, including on the Kuril Islands.
