Russian President Vladimir Putin will make a video message in connection with the anniversary of the reunification of new regions with Russia, said press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov.

Answering a question from journalists whether Putin plans to hold a meeting with the heads of new regions, since tomorrow will be the first anniversary of their reunification with Russia, Peskov noted that communication with the heads of the regions takes place regularly.

“We mean that the president will address, there will be a video message from the president, in which he will congratulate everyone on the day of reunification of new regions with Russia,” Peskov said.

On September 28, Putin signed a law on celebrating September 30 as the Day of Reunification of New Regions with Russia. The document equates the day of entry of the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions with the days of military glory.

On September 30, 2022, Putin signed agreements on the inclusion of new territories into Russia with the heads of the DPR and LPR, as well as the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions. In September of this year, elections of heads of constituent entities of the Russian Federation were held in new regions under Russian legislation. As a result, Evgeny Balitsky and Vladimir Saldo were elected governors of the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, respectively, and Leonid Pasechnik and Denis Pushilin were elected heads of the LPR and DPR.
