Russian President Vladimir Putin visited in Moscow, National Medical Research Center for Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Immunology named after Dmitry Rogachev. He looked at several departments, in particular, the new nuclear medicine building, opened in early November.
Vladimir Putin was accompanied by Deputy Head of the Ministry of Health Viktor Fisenko, General Director of the center Galina Novichkova and Chief Physician Dmitry Litvinov. The Russian President inspected the operating unit in the anesthesiology department, and the playroom and school room in the pediatric oncology department.
Vladimir Putin also visited the rehabilitation and treatment rooms and talked with patients and their parents. As RIA Novosti reports, the president gave the girls from the center dolls and then took a photo with them.
The decision to create a medical research center named after Dmitry Rogachev was made in 2005 after a meeting between Vladimir Putin and a 10-year-old boy who suffered from leukemia. The center is named in his honor. The institution consists of 150 divisions employing about 1,800 specialists. Among other things, the center performs stem cell transplantation in children.
