Russian President Vladimir Putin said that those who embarked on the path of betraying the country will be held accountable under the law. At the same time, he stressed that the authorities do not intend to organize a “witch hunt”.
“Whoever embarks on the path of direct betrayal, commits terrorist and other crimes, will be held accountable under the law. But we will never be like the Kyiv regime and the Western elites who are and have been engaged in witch-hunting,” Vladimir Putin said during the announcement of the message to the Federal Assembly.
The Russian president noted that the authorities would not “settle scores” with those who “apostatized from their homeland”, but this would remain “on their conscience.” “The main thing is that the citizens of Russia gave them a moral assessment,” the head of state stressed.
At the same time, according to Mr. Putin, the responsibility for inciting the conflict in Ukraine and for the victims it caused lies with the West and the “Kyiv regime”.
