Putin: the memory of the victims of fascism is disappearing among the elites of Germany

Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with representatives of public patriotic and youth organizations, said that the memory of the victims of German fascism is “weathering” among today’s elites of Germany. At the same time, he noted that the citizens of Germany still remember this. The meeting was held in Volgograd in the panorama museum “Battle of Stalingrad”.
During the meeting, one of the participants told the president about the medal of the Tula Red Army soldier handed over in Russia by a German citizen.
“In this regard, I would like to say that in Germany they remember this, and that the first victims of German fascism were just German anti-fascists, and that such a memory is preserved is very good for ordinary citizens. Unfortunately, among today’s elites, apparently, this memory is eroding, ”Vladimir Putin said in response (quoted by RIA Novosti).
The head of state also said that he would ask the governor of the Tula region, Alexei Dyumin, to take part in the ceremony of handing over the medal to the relatives of the Red Army soldier.
Today, February 2, Vladimir Putin arrived in Volgograd on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Battle of Stalingrad. During the visit, he laid a wreath at the Eternal Flame in the Hall of Military Glory in the Battle of Stalingrad Museum-Reserve on Mamaev Kurgan and performed at a festive concert.
