Russian President Vladimir Putin supported the construction of a mosque in the Patriot Park of the Russian Armed Forces in the Moscow region. The head of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SDM), Mufti Ravil Gainutdin, invited the president to the unveiling ceremony of a memorial stone at the construction site.
“It’s a good idea,” said Vladimir Putin after laying flowers at the monument to Minin and Pozharsky on Red Square (quote from TASS).
The groundbreaking ceremony, as Ravil Gainutdin said, is scheduled for late November or early December. The event, according to the mufti, was proposed to be held by Muslim veterans.
The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs thanked the president for supporting the initiative to build the mosque. He added that the project had been agreed upon and today he received a corresponding resolution from the head of the Russian Ministry of Defense Sergei Shoigu.
The opening ceremony of the Russian Armed Forces Church in Patriot Park took place on June 22, 2020. On December 3 of the same year, Ravil Gainutdin proposed building temples there for other faiths.
