Putin signed the law on the introduction of unified general education programs

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a federal law that provides for the introduction of unified general education programs in schools. In addition, the document signed by the head of state provides for the introduction of the powers of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation to state orders for textbooks and manuals for educational institutions.
The law introduces, according to the explanatory note, the mandatory application of federal work programs in the implementation of the mandatory part of the educational programs of primary general education in the subjects “Russian language”, “Literary reading”, “World around”. The requirement also applies to the mandatory part of the educational programs of basic general and secondary general education in the subjects “Russian language”, “Literature”, “History”, “Social studies”, “Geography”, as well as the subject “Fundamentals of life safety”
For the implementation of unified educational programs, a new procedure for the development of textbooks is being established. Thus, the state order for the development of textbooks and teaching aids will be carried out by the Ministry of Education.
