President Vladimir Putin signed decree on the preparation and holding of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The decree, among other things, refers to the adoption of measures to improve the socio-economic situation of WWII veterans.
The decree was signed taking into account the “world historical significance of the victory of the Soviet people” in the Great Patriotic War, as well as in order to coordinate the authorities. According to the decree, the plan for the preparation of festive events must be completed by the Victory Committee within three months. The document also mentions festive events with the participation of heads and representatives of foreign states.
In May 2023, WWII veterans received a payment of 10,000 rubles dedicated to Victory Day. Taking into account this payment, the average income of participants in the Great Patriotic War through the fund amounted to about 60 thousand rubles. per month.
