Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree raising the age of deferment from military service for employees of IT companies from 27 to 30 years. Document comes into force on January 1, 2024.
In 2022, Vladimir Putin signed a decree on measures to support the IT industry against the backdrop of a massive outflow of specialists after the entry of Russian troops into Ukraine. Including for employees of accredited IT companies, a deferral from the army was established from 18 to 27 years.
In August 2023 Vladimir Putin signed law to increase the draft age from 27 to 30 years. Following this, the head of the Ministry of Digital Development Maksut Shadayev informedthat the department is developing amendments, respectively increasing the age of deferment for IT professionals.
