Putin signed a decree consolidating the unified status of large families

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on measures of social support for large families, which sets out their status and conditions for payments. The corresponding document was posted on the official website publication of legal acts.

“To establish that a large family in the Russian Federation is a family with three or more children, the status of which is established indefinitely,” the document says.

It also states that social support for large families is provided until the eldest child reaches 18 years of age or 23 years of age, provided he is studying full-time at an educational institution. Such families are guaranteed the provision of benefits and payments, assistance with employment, early granting of old-age pensions for women and other benefits.

The President instructed the government to create a single sample document that confirms the status of a large family. In addition, the authorities will have to maintain a data bank on large families, stimulate the employment of such citizens in the field of entrepreneurial activity, and also support public organizations whose activities are aimed at creating a positive image of large families and preserving traditional values.

Regional authorities, as stated in the decree, are also recommended to provide children from large families with free meals in educational institutions and school uniforms, and children under six years of age with medicines.

Previously, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova reportedthat the number of large families has increased by 27% over five years. The number of families raising three or more children, according to her, was 2.3 million.
