Putin: Riots are always followed by chaos and civil war

After the riots, chaos and civil war always and everywhere occur. This statement was made by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting with the military.

Putin added that if the situation develops, “it is not known what would become of the country.” However, “all the gains of the fighting would be lost,” he said. All this was prevented, the President stressed.

Putin noted with regret that during the suppression of the rebellion there were combat losses. The President of the Russian Federation said that the Russian military died defending the Fatherland.

On June 24, Wagner PMC took control of military facilities in Rostov-on-Don and blockaded the city. PMC fighters, led by the company’s founder Yevgeny Prigozhin, moved from the special operation zone towards Moscow on June 23 after Prigozhin accused the Ministry of Defense of attacking the company’s rear camps. The military department denied the information, calling the message a provocation.

On the same day, Putin spoke with an appeal in connection with the situation with the Wagner PMC. He called what was happening “apostasy from his people, from comrades in arms”, “a stab in the back” to the country and “internal betrayal”. The Russian leader emphasized that he would not allow a repetition of 1917 and the tragedy of the Civil War. “Gossip, squabbles, politicking behind the backs of the army and the people turned into the greatest shock, the destruction of the army, the collapse of the state, the loss of vast territories, and as a result, a tragedy and a civil war,” Putin said.

According to the founder of the PMC, “Wagner” did not reach 200 km from Moscow. On the evening of June 24, after negotiations with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Prigozhin announced that he had decided to stop the movement towards Moscow and return to the rear camps of PMCs.

Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov explainedthat, as a result of the negotiations, an agreement was reached: the criminal case initiated against Prigozhin would be terminated, and he himself would “leave for Belarus.” Wagner fighters and commanders will be able to conclude contracts with the Ministry of Defense and other law enforcement agencies, or, if they make such a decision, go to Belarus, Putin specified the day before.
