Putin proposed increasing the amount of payments to RAS academicians to 200 thousand rubles

Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed doubling monthly payments to academicians of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) – they will receive 200 thousand rubles. In 2023, their payments were increased from 100 thousand to 150 thousand rubles.
“Monthly payments to academicians and corresponding members have been increased by 1.5 times. I believe that this is not enough, and I propose here additional solutions, namely doubling the size of such payments compared to 2023. That is, a monthly academician will have to receive 200 thousand rubles, a corresponding member – 100 thousand rubles,” said Vladimir Putin at the ceremony dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences (quote from TASS).
He added that state support for the Academy of Sciences should increase. In 2024, the cost of financing the RAS, as the head of state specified, increased by almost a third and amounted to about 6 billion rubles.
At the ceremony, Vladimir Putin announced that the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences included the composition of the Russian Security Council. He explained that the Academy of Sciences needs to be integrated into the strategic decision-making process. The works of scientists, according to him, serve the formation of Russian identity.
Russia, as the president added, must maintain self-sufficiency in all key sectors, but at the same time also form a global development agenda. It is important to “build up unique competencies in order to create equal international technology alliances.”
