Russian President Vladimir Putin presented Gold Star medals to the Heroes of Russia in the St. George Hall of the Grand Kremlin Palace, reported press service Kremlin.
It is reported that more than 200 people attended the awards ceremony. Among them are Heroes of the USSR and Russia, holders of the Order of St. George, as well as those awarded three or more Orders of Courage. The President said that among the recipients were military personnel who took part in military operations on the territory of Ukraine.
“Their feats are truly amazing. The whole country is proud of them. And for me, of course, it is an honor to present our military personnel with the “Golden Stars” of Heroes of Russia today. These are natives of various regions of our country - from Karelia to Primorsky Krai, representatives of different nationalities. And all of them, shoulder to shoulder, defend a common homeland that is common to all,” said Vladimir Putin.
The Gold Star medal was established in 1992 as an insignia for the title of Hero of Russia. The title is awarded by the head of state for services to the state and people associated with the accomplishment of a heroic feat.
