Russian President Vladimir Putin named the 14th Fighter Aviation Regiment “Guards”. Decree signed by the head of state published on the portal of legal information.
The name was given “for mass heroism and courage, fortitude and courage shown by the personnel of the regiment in combat operations to protect the Fatherland and state interests in armed conflicts,” the document says.
The decree comes into force from the date of signing.
August 9 Putin appropriated the name “guards” of the 71st motorized rifle regiment. In a congratulatory telegram, the president noted the “skillful and decisive actions of the regiment’s personnel” during the special operation. He also expressed confidence that the guardsmen would continue to serve the Motherland with honor and ensure its security.
