Former Austrian chancellor Kurz faces three years in prison

The Austrian Prosecutor’s Office for Economics and Corruption has announced charges against Sebastian Kurz, the former chancellor of Austria and the former chairman of the Austrian People’s Party.
According to the investigation, Kurz, as well as the head of his cabinet, Bernhard Bonelli, gave false testimony in June 2020. Then Kurtz was interrogated as a defendant in the commission of inquiry “Ibiza”. The charge carries a penalty of up to three years in prison.
The former prime minister calls the allegations false and unfounded.
