Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Chairman of the Supreme Court Vyacheslav Lebedev. During the event, the President said that the country is currently going through a difficult path of its development. The basis for the existence of Russian statehood is the strengthening of the judicial and legal system.
During the meeting, Vladimir Putin personally presented the Order of the Holy Apostle Andrew the First-Called to the head of the Russian Supreme Court. The President noted that the order was awarded to Vyacheslav Lebedev not only for what he had done for the development of the Supreme Court, but also for his great contribution to the strengthening and development of Russian statehood.
“Our country is going through a very difficult path of its development, very difficult … The judicial system and the legal system, of course, are the basis not only for development, for the existence of Russian statehood, so I want to say with good reason and I must say that you are for many years of work as chairman of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation have done a lot to strengthen the Russian state,” Vladimir Putin said.
Vladimir Putin signed decree on awarding the Order of the Holy Apostle Andrew the First-Called Vyacheslav Lebedev on August 14. According to the text of the decree, the chairman of the Supreme Court was awarded “for outstanding services in the development of the domestic judicial system, strengthening the rule of law and law and order.”
Vyacheslav Lebedev is 80 years old. He has held the post of Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation since December 1991. He has the title of Honored Lawyer of Russia.
