Putin instructed to provide support for technology development centers in the field of AI

Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed to provide support for research centers in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) until 2030. This is stated on site Kremlin.

The president instructed to pay special attention to “the need for them to conduct research on optimizing machine learning algorithms and computational processes, including those related to the development of large language models and generative artificial intelligence technologies.”

In addition, Putin instructed the Cabinet to monitor the effectiveness of spending funds from the budget to finance research in the field of AI. Monitoring will have to take place jointly with the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS).

In the fall of 2022, the President at the Sberbank Artifical Intelligence Journey conference dedicated to AI, declaredthat now the importance of breakthroughs in the field of AI is colossal, and the rivalry between states is fierce.

“The place of Russia in the world, our sovereignty, security and viability of our country depend on what results we achieve,” the head of state noted.

In January, Vedomosti, with reference to the government’s roadmap “Development of the high-tech direction “Artificial Intelligence” for the period up to 2030″ wrote that departments from 2023 will begin to report to the Cabinet on the implementation of AI-based solutions.
