Mintsifra: by the end of the year, at least 30,000 specialists will receive preferential IT mortgages

The Ministry of Digital Development expects that by the end of the year the number of issued preferential mortgage loans for IT specialists will reach 30,000, Andrey Zarenin, deputy head of the department, said, transmits TASS.

At the moment, the program has already been used by 23,000, its volume amounted to 207 billion rubles.

“We plan that by the end of the year the mortgage of preferential IT specialists will be issued at least 30,000,” the official said.

The preferential mortgage program for IT specialists in accordance with the presidential decree has been in effect since July 2022. The rate for employees of Russian companies accredited in the register of the Ministry of Digital Development is up to 5% per annum with an initial payment of 15%. At the same time, the maximum amount of a state-subsidized loan for residents of million-plus regions is 18 million rubles, for the rest – 9 million rubles.

At the end of 2022, the demand for the program turned out to be less than expected, and in January the government softened the terms of the program: preferential mortgage terms became available to employees of IT companies accredited by the Ministry of Digital Development aged 18 and over. And on September 1, the Cabinet of Ministers canceled minimum wage requirements for borrowers. Previously, a borrower living in Moscow had to earn at least 150,000 rubles. per month, and residents of million-plus cities – at least 120,000 rubles. In other cities and towns, this level was 70,000 rubles. per month.

The government believes that the abolition of the salary qualification will increase the issuance of preferential mortgage loans to IT specialists.
