Putin instructed to develop proposals for the accelerated growth of the minimum wage

President Vladimir Putin demanded that the government provide proposals for an accelerated increase in the minimum wage (SMIC) and further separation of its value from the subsistence minimum. The Cabinet of Ministers must submit proposals by January 15, 2023, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has been appointed responsible.
The President also made a number instructions about a single allowance for needy families with children:
- accompany the introduction of a monthly allowance in connection with the birth and upbringing of a child from 2023, inform citizens about the allowance, and, if necessary, help the regions in their obligations to co-finance support measures;
- to develop measures to increase the income from the labor activity of parents in families that are entitled to receive benefits;
- compensate for the negative impact on family income after the termination of eligibility, consider providing tax credits to working parents or paying less benefits.
From 2023 minimum wage will increase by 16.9% by January 2022, the cost of living – by 13.6%. In this case, the range of inflation may be 12–12.4%. The single allowance for needy families with children and pregnant women will average 13,900 rubles. It comes into effect on January 1st.
