The demographic situation in Russia will begin to improve in about three years, President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with the winners and mentors of the Professionals championship. By this time, according to the head of state, the number of young specialists will reach 10 million.

During a meeting with the winners and mentors of the championship of professional excellence, Vladimir Putin noted that the birth rate in Russia has always been wave-like – it either rose up or fell. “In about three years, our wave will go up again,” he noted (quoted by TASS).

The President pointed out that a technological revolution is currently taking place in the world, therefore it is important for Russia that the process of training specialists takes into account a variety of areas and is closely connected with the labor market. According to Vladimir Putin, in three years the number of young people who will reach working age will increase by 2 million and reach almost 10 million.

“This also sets the state the task of preparing the necessary infrastructure for these people in a timely manner, so that they can enter the profession they choose for themselves, on time, smoothly, naturally, so that they have everything for this,” Vladimir Putin emphasized.

According to forecasts Rosstat, from 2023 to 2027, the birth rate in Russia will decrease from 1 million 244.5 thousand babies to 1 million 140.4 thousand. The figure will begin to grow only in 2028. By the beginning of 2046, Rosstat expects, the country’s population will be 138 million people. As of January 1, 2023, 146 million people lived in Russia.

Earlier, the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region submitted to the State Duma draft amendments to the healthcare legislation, which would exclude private clinics from the list of medical organizations that have the right to perform abortions. Supporters of the ban believe that the initiative “directs society towards saving the life of a child and protecting a woman’s health.”
