President Putin expressed condolences on the death of actress Vasilyeva
Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his condolences to the family and friends of People’s Artist of the USSR actress Vera Vasilyeva on her death.
“Please accept my deepest condolences in connection with the grief that has befallen you,” the head of state is quoted as saying on the Kremlin website.
Vladimir Putin noted that “the death of Vera Kuzminichna Vasilyeva is a great, irreparable loss for the national culture and the native Theater of Satire, on the stage of which she appeared for more than 75 years.”
The President called Vera Vasilyeva a truly people’s artist and stressed that millions of people admired her talent and personal qualities.
Earlier it was reported that on August 9, Vera Vasilyeva died at the 98th year of her life.
Vasilyeva since 1948 served in the Moscow Academic Theater of Satire, where she played more than 60 roles.
In addition, she starred in over 40 films.
Vasilyeva was a laureate of the Stalin Prizes I and III degree. The audience remembered her work in the cinema for such films as “The Legend of the Siberian Land”, “Chuk and Gek”, “Wedding with a Dowry”. In the theater, she played, in particular, in the performances “Warrior Girl”, “Crazy Day, or The Marriage of Figaro.”
