Putin embarrassed a student from Italy who “fell in love with Russia”
A student from Italy suggested that Russian President Vladimir Putin make it easier for foreigners to move to Russia based on culture and family values. Italian Irena Cecchini spoke during the plenary session of the forum “Strong Ideas for New Times”.
An Italian citizen suggested that Putin introduce “impatriation” – that is, moving to Russia for permanent residence on the basis of cultural, traditional and family values. She also stated that she fell in love with Russia.
The head of state asked permission to ask “a couple of clarifying questions.”
“You said that you fell in love with Russia. And that’s it, you haven’t fallen in love with anyone else?” – asked the president.
To this the Italian, embarrassed, replied that no.
“It’s strange, such a beautiful girl… But they’ve probably already fallen in love with you,” Putin noted.
At the same time, the president supported the student’s idea, noting that the idea of moving foreigners who are close in spirit to Russians is exactly what Russia needs.
