Putin demanded to solve complex issues in new regions

The fighting is not a reason to take a break in solving pressing problems in the new territories. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin during the first meeting with the government this year.

“I understand that the situation in the new subjects is difficult, hostilities continue in some territories, peaceful life has not been restored everywhere, and people’s safety has been ensured. Naturally, all these factors must be taken into account. But all this is not a reason to take a break and postpone the solution of the most difficult issues until later. Already now we need to set specific goals and gradually, step by step, achieve them. Seek their solutions. This is what people who are really going through hard times are waiting for,” he said.

Putin also recalled that the government was instructed to prepare a special program for the development of new Russian regions by the end of this quarter. According to the head of state, by 2030 new regions should reach the all-Russian level in terms of the state of infrastructure and the provision of social services.

At the end of September, the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions became part of Russia. Treaties between Russia and the new regions were signed in the Kremlin on 30 September. On October 2, Putin introduced four constitutional bills on the adoption of new regions to the State Duma, and the documents were ratified the next day. On October 4, the treaties were also ratified by the Federation Council. After that, Putin signed laws on the admission of new territories to Russia.

The new territories were approved as subjects of Russia in the territories that “existed on the day of their formation and acceptance in Russia.” In the case of the DPR and LPR, the republics were recognized within the administrative boundaries of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
