Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed to identify repair contractors in 84 schools that did not have time to complete repairs by September 1. He called for “an appropriate response” to the failure of the repair work.
“You said that about 84 schools did not complete repairs due to the fact that shortcomings were identified at the final stage of these works. It is imperative to identify who is to blame for this, look at the contractors who did not complete the required amount of work in the right time, and respond accordingly. Why sign contracts with them for such work in the future?” Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with members of the government (quoted by TASS). The head of the Ministry of Education, Sergei Kravtsov, reported to the President that repairs in schools could not be completed.
Mr. Kravtsov today, August 31, at the IX All-Russian School Meeting declared, that at the expense of federal funds in the next five years, 7300 schools should be repaired and about 4 thousand – at the expense of regional budgets. He also stressed that raising money to equip schools with equipment and repairs is a “criminal case.”
