A team of Russian schoolchildren won six gold medals at the first Open International Astronomy Olympiad (OWAO 2023), in which representatives of 14 different countries participated. Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated the Russian team on this important achievement and success.
In a congratulatory telegram, the head of state expressed sincere joy that the Russian team once again became a triumphant of these prestigious competitions.
Russian schoolchildren, in a fair and intense struggle, showed their deep knowledge, excellent preparation and team cohesion, for which their parents and teachers should also be thanked, Putin noted.
The head of the department of physics at the Phystech-Lyceum, Konstantin Kutelev, the mentor of the Russian team, emphasized that the World Olympiad is a very difficult competition, which requires special preparation. It is necessary to have an excellent knowledge of physics, mathematics, geometry, and always keep in mind the scale of the main space objects, the approximate speeds of stars, the names of the brightest objects and other data.
Earlier it was also reported that high school student from St. Petersburg Andrei Khlopotnykh became one of the winners of the All-Russian Olympiad among schoolchildren on artificial intelligence.
