Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated the first female cosmonaut and State Duma deputy Valentina Tereshkova on her birthday. The corresponding telegram was published on website Kremlin.
The congratulation says that Tereshkova belongs to those people who are strong in spirit and devoted to their country. Putin noted her enormous contribution to the development of domestic cosmonautics, as well as her civic position and significant social and legislative activities.
