Putin called Zhaparov’s visit to Moscow on the eve of May 9 a landmark event

Russian President Vladimir Putin met today in the Kremlin with his Kyrgyz counterpart Sadyr Zhaparov. He said during the meeting that he considers it a landmark event that the Kyrgyz delegation arrived in the Russian capital on the eve of Victory Day.
“This is a significant event that you are with us at this time,” Putin said, adding that Russia remembers that 360,000 residents of Kyrgyzstan went to the front during the Great Patriotic War and more than half of them did not return.
“We will never forget the heroism of our fathers and grandfathers,” Zhaparov said in response, adding that today was a good opportunity to discuss topical issues of bilateral cooperation.
