It is necessary to speed up work on creating an institution of human rights ombudsmen in the annexed regions, said President Vladimir Putin. He raised this topic in his greeting to the participants of the meeting of the All-Russian Coordination Council of Commissioners for Human Rights.

“Of course, your participation is required by tasks related to the protection of human rights in Novorossiya and Donbass. It is important to establish clear, prompt interaction with local administrations, to speed up work on creating an institution of commissioners in these regions,” said the telegram published on website Kremlin.

On September 30, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin included the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR), Zaporozhye and Kherson regions into Russia following the results of referendums held there. These four regions are under martial law. Currently, there are regional ombudsmen only in the DPR and LPR.
