Putin backed calls to re-vaccinate against COVID-19

President Vladimir Putin believes that citizens need to be re-vaccinated against the coronavirus. He stated this at a meeting with the Governor of the Samara region Dmitry Azarov.

Mr. Azarov said that in the region, the vaccination rate is “slightly higher than the Russian average”, and the incidence rate is “slightly lower”. He noted that the authorities are urging citizens to get vaccinated against COVID-19 again.

In Russia, 9474 cases of coronavirus infection were registered over the past day. This is 8.9% less than the day before (10,403). The number of daily hospitalizations amounted to 1937 – 220.7% higher than on October 17 (604), the COVID-19 operational headquarters reported. During the day, 91 patients died in Russia (one person less than yesterday).

7 October Rosstat informed, which will stop publishing operational data on deaths from coronavirus. The next day, Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko declaredthat the COVID-19 situation remains tense. The Ministry of Health assesses the shortage of medical staff in the Russian Federation as moderate.
