Putin awarded the Order of Friendship to billionaire Mordashov

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on awarding the Order of Friendship to the chairman of the board of directors and the main owner of the metallurgical enterprise Severstal, Alexei Mordashov. Document published on legal information portal.
The Order of Friendship was established by decree of the President of Russia in 1994. He is considered the successor of the Soviet Order of Friendship of Peoples. Initially, the award was given to foreign figures for merits in bringing together the peoples of different countries. However, later the provision on awarding the Order of Friendship was edited, the last change was made in 2021. Now the award is received for special merits in strengthening peace, friendship, cooperation and mutual understanding between peoples, active work to preserve the cultural and historical heritage of Russia, labor successes in industry, agriculture, fruitful activities in the development of science, education, health and culture, special merits in protecting the rights and freedoms of citizens.
“For a great contribution to the development of the metallurgical industry and many years of conscientious work,” the presidential decree on rewarding Alexei Mordashov says.
Vladimir Putin also instructed to award the Order of Friendship to Pyotr Frolov, Counsellor-Envoy of the Russian Embassy in Belarus, Alexander Stoppe, Third Class State Counselor of the Russian Federation, Vladislav Barankov, First Deputy Director General for Financial Affairs of the oil and gas producing company Surgutneftegaz, and Lyudmila Loginovskaya, Head of the Legal Department of Surgutneftegaz.
Alexey Mordashov is an entrepreneur, billionaire, owner of a 77% stake in Severstal, chairman of the board of directors of the power engineering company Power Machines, a member of the board of directors of the international gold mining company Nord Gold NV. Owner of 32% of the German travel company TUI Group. Estimated Forbesthe state of Mr. Mordashov in 2021 is $ 13.2 billion. He ranks 5th in the list of Russian billionaires.
