Putin agreed to the need to ban the word “infogypsies” in state media

Russian President Vladimir Putin said the authorities would take steps to prevent “any xenophobic elements of any kind” from appearing in state media. In particular, the head of state agreed with the proposal to ban the term “infogypsies” in the federal media because it “causes gypsy-phobia.”

During a meeting of the Council on Interethnic Relations, a specialist in the field of ethnography and history of the Roma, Nadezhda Demeter, proposed to ban phrases in the media sphere that “indicate nationality and have a pronounced negative connotation”, as well as the word “infogypsies”, which contributes to the spread of “gypsy-phobia”.

“As for the blogosphere, it is, of course, not easy to influence it there. But with regard to the state media, this absolutely needs to be done, and we will definitely take into account everything that you said, ”Vladimir Putin agreed (quoted by RIA Novosti).

As a rule, infogypsies are people who sell information that is of no real value to the consumer. This is commonly referred to as business coaches and sellers of personal growth courses. It was the spread of “infogypsies” that deputies of the State Duma explained the need to license business training.
