Putin about Yashin: who is this

Russian President Vladimir Putin commented on the verdict of former municipal deputies Ilya Yashin (recognized as a foreign agent). Today the Meshchansky Court of Moscow sentenced Mr. Yashin to 8 years and 6 months in a penal colony for making fake stories about the Russian Armed Forces (Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

At a press conference following Vladimir Putin’s visit to Bishkek, a dialogue took place between a Kommersant correspondent and the president:

Mr. Putin said that citizens have the rights indicated by law, so you can apply to a higher authority. “Mr. Yashin’s lawyers certainly know what they should do,” the president concluded.

A criminal case against Ilya Yashin was opened this summer, he is in jail. According to investigators, in April 2022, Ilya Yashin, live on his YouTube channel, “spread deliberately false information about the killings of civilians by the RF Armed Forces in the city of Bucha.” Mr. Yashin pleaded not guilty.
