The senator was bewildered by the Finnish minister’s statement about the “ice war” with Russia
Western countries are not actually preparing, but are already waging war with Russia, and in the most active form. This is how Senator Alexei Pushkov reacted to the statement of the Minister of Defense of Finland Antti Hyakkänen.
Earlier, the head of the Finnish Ministry of Defense announced that the West was preparing for a new Cold War with Russia against the backdrop of increased military production to further support Ukraine and compete with Moscow.
Pushkov noted that the statement about preparing for the Cold War in modern realities sounds strange. In his opinion, in fact, preparations have been carried out since 2014, the moment the first sanctions were introduced against Russia, and if we count the expansion of NATO to the east, then preparations began even earlier.
“Now the West is waging not a cold war against Russia, but an “ice” war, and in Ukraine it is also participating in a “hot” one. But he pretends that he is not doing all this, but is only preparing for a new Cold War, the beginning of which he seems to have nothing to do with, while in fact he is its initiator,” Pushkov wrote.
The senator also noted that during the Cold War, relations between Moscow and Western countries were incomparably better, despite periodic crises. In any case, Soviet gas was supplied to Europe, and “no one blew up the pipelines.”
