Pupils of school No. 2065 created a device for measuring lung capacity

High school students of the Moscow School No. 2065 – Alexander Timoshenko, Vyacheslav Primizenkin and Mansur Ikrami – have developed a unique device that allows a person to measure heart rate, saturation and vital capacity at home.
As the young researchers themselves note, the device will help people who, for example, have had a coronovirus infection or are actively involved in sports, control the state of the respiratory system.
According to Vitaly Lifar, the scientific supervisor of the project, the device compares favorably with analogues in terms of price, size and functionality, in addition, to use it, one does not need to have special knowledge and skills.
The device consists of a replaceable mouthpiece, a breathing tube, a sensor, a four-wire loop, a microcontroller and an LED. Its cost in industrial production can be in the range of 3-4 thousand rubles.
“The guys themselves wrote a program in C ++, made calculations, designed, printed some of the details on a 3D printer at their school No. 2065, where there is an IT test site equipped with the latest technology,” explained Vitaly Lifar.
Based on the number of breaths per minute, the machine determines the vital capacity of the lungs (VC). After that, it displays the data on the screen, comparing the indicators with the WHO standards. In addition, the device measures the saturation and the amount of carbon dioxide in the room. When the amount of CO2 rises above the norm, a sensor is activated that warns of danger.
