Most often, women who have low self-esteem enter into abusive relationships. This opinion is shared by clinical psychologist Antonina Biryukova, as well as family psychologist Eduard Lobastov.
Experts have said that girls who have a lot of limiting beliefs about themselves can get into such relationships. From such representatives of the fair sex one can hear statements in the spirit: “who needs me”, “I am not worthy of a normal man”, “I will never have a good relationship”.
According to the psychologist, such “victims” suit the abuser best, as they are easier to manipulate and can tolerate any kind of abuse, both physical and emotional.
Biryukova stressed that at risk are girls either from dysfunctional families, or she grew up without a father, as well as those who seek to start a family at any cost. The psychologist explained that people with a stable psyche and adequate self-esteem are not suitable for abusers, since with any “alarm bells”, the girls will immediately break off relations with such a man.
