French “Paris Saint-Germain” reported that the head coach of the club, Christophe Galatier, “made a reservation” when commenting on the departure of Argentine footballer Lionel Messi. Today coach saidthat the match against Clermont on June 3 will be the last for Messi in the French club. PSG claims that they meant the last game of the current season.
“Christophe Galtier misspoke when he said the match against Clermont would be Messi’s last at the Parc des Princes this season,” the club said in a statement, citing Le Parisien.
The Argentine footballer signed a contract with PSG in August 2021, it expires at the end of June. In two seasons at PSG, Messi appeared on the field 57 times and scored 22 goals. In 31 games this season, the 35-year-old has scored 16 goals and provided 16 assists.
In early May, PSG suspended Lionel Messi from matches for two weeks for a trip to Saudi Arabia that was not coordinated with the club. For the same period of time they refused to pay his salary. Later media reportedthat the Saudi Arabian football club Al-Hilal offered Messi a contract worth about $400 million a year.
