Provider Aeroflot Technics has launched a workshop for repairing Airbus landing gear

An aircraft maintenance operator has opened a certified workshop for repairing landing gear for the Airbus A320, the press service of Aeroflot airline reported.

The message notes that the company successfully passed the audit and received approval from the Federal Air Transport Agency under the FAP-285 certificate. The work will take place at the company’s own base at Sheremetyevo Airport.

The audit allowed us to check the work of departments, the competencies of employees and internal regulatory documents. All premises were inspected. As a result, Aeroflot Technics confirmed compliance with all department requirements.

Previously, the operator replaced the nose and main landing gear on the Airbus A320, the new workshop will perform their full maintenance, as well as major overhauls. According to the operating manual, a scheduled detailed inspection of the landing gear on Airbus A320 aircraft is performed once every 10 years, for landing gear manufactured after 2016 – once every 12 years or every 20,000 flight cycles.

After reaching production capacity, the workshop will fully meet the needs of Aeroflot Group airlines. The maintenance operator plans to expand its landing gear repair tolerances to other types of aircraft.

The company also recalled that this year the provider was the first in the country to master the replacement of landing gear on Airbus A330 and Boeing 777. Despite the sanctions, the Group is confidently expanding its competencies for technological independence in matters of maintaining the airworthiness of the air fleet.
