Swiss technology company Proton introduced Proton Pass password manager, which is protected by end-to-end encryption. The service will be offered in free and paid versions – premium subscribers will get additional features.
The company says that their password manager is possibly the first to encrypt absolutely all data, including using an end-to-end encryption system – even if attackers gain access to user data, they will not be able to decrypt it, because they do not have turns out to be the keys.
Proton Pass will appear as apps for iOS and Android, as well as extensions for Google Chrome and Brave browsers. Proton Visionary and Lifetime users will be the first to use the new service – they will be sent an invitation to ProtonMail mailboxes. A version for all users is also planned to be released in 2023. Proton is primarily known for its secure email service, but it also provides VPN and cloud storage services.
