In Belgium, police are investigating cases of attempted arson of schools in the city of Charleroi, SudInfo reports.
According to the publication, parents of students at these schools expressed their dissatisfaction with the introduction of a new compulsory subject relating to sexual orientation and sexuality into the curriculum.
According to available information, the investigation is being conducted into four episodes in which unknown persons tried to set fire to school buildings at night. Black inscriptions reading “No Evras” were found on the walls of the schools. This is an abbreviation for the new subject “Sexuality and Sexuality Education”. It was introduced compulsorily for students aged 11-12 and 15-16 starting this year.
The item’s creators said it aims to “answer teens’ questions on sensitive topics” including “sexism, sexual violence and gender stereotypes.” However, opponents of such lessons fear that hypersexuality and attempts to change sexual orientation will be promoted to children.
Islamic and Catholic organizations are calling for protests against the introduction of this school subject.
Police promise to bring to justice those who tried to set fire to schools.
