Prosecutors and Investigative Committee employees were allowed to use AKs for personal protection

The Russian government has added to the list of small arms that prosecutors and employees of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation can use for personal protection, Kalashnikov assault rifles – AK-12 caliber 5.45 mm and AK-15 caliber 7.62 mm, it follows from resolutions government.
The document also includes the Lebedev modular pistol (MPL) in the list and excludes the PL-15 from it. Both pistols use the 9mm cartridge. Previously, the list included only pistols, revolvers and submachine guns. The list was approved by the government in 1999 and was supplemented in 2009 and 2022.
