The Government of the Russian Federation has authorized the use of two models of Kalashnikov assault rifles for personal protection of employees of the Prosecutor’s Office and the Investigative Committee of Russia. The resolution was published on Thursday, February 22.
The document states that employees of the prosecutor’s office and the Investigative Committee are allowed to use the 5.45 mm Kalashnikov AK12 and 7.62 mm Kalashnikov AK15 models for self-defense
Appropriate adjustments were made to the government decree of June 29, 1999.
In 2022, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a document allowing employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation receive weapons in case of a real threat to life. The heads of territorial bodies and the heads of rescue military units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations will be responsible for issuing weapons.
