Project “Let’s be friends!” fulfills the dreams of young Muscovites

Attend a judo master class, learn how to play the guitar, work in a beauty salon, find out how difficult it is to be a DJ, get acquainted with the work of a policeman …

All these are quite real dreams that were expressed this year by young Muscovites – participants in the project “Let’s be friends!” This social charity project is aimed at helping orphans, children with special needs and teenagers from families in difficult life situations.

As the deputy head of the capital’s Department of Labor and Social Protection of the Population said Ekaterina Berber, the project “Let’s be friends!” been implemented for two years now. Children write letters to the organizers of the project, in which they tell what specialties they are interested in, talk about their hobbies and plans for the future.

— Thanks to the project, over two years, the dreams of more than 100 children have come true. For them, this is an opportunity not only to learn more about their favorite activities, but also to meet people who share their hobbies – any Muscovite can become a mentor and friend for a child, – said Ekaterina Berber.

In fact, the desires of the guys are completely different, but they are all quite earthly: to learn to draw or play the guitar, to meet a famous athlete, to get acquainted with different professions, for example, a cook, a hairdresser or a musician, to see how the Russian Post works and see how letters are sent to Santa Claus, see how money and bank cards are printed.

Partners of the project “Let’s be friends!” trying to help children achieve their dreams. There are currently 11 questionnaires available on the project website, in which the guys talk about themselves and their hobbies. For example, thirteen-year-old Alexander dreams of becoming a policeman and driving a patrol car, fourteen-year-old Natasha loves Japanese comics and wants to learn how to draw manga, sixteen-year-old Sophia hopes to visit an animation studio and participate in the creation of a cartoon. Anyone can fulfill their dream and become social mentors.

According to the organizers of the project, this year the mentors of the children were mainly women aged 24 to 53 years of various professions – legal advisers, accountants, teachers, experts and leading specialists in various fields – from science to information technology. All these people are united by indifference and the desire to realize themselves through helping others.

To take part in the project, you must go to the site “Let’s be friends!”, leave a request and wait for a call. Employees of the fund will offer to fill out a questionnaire and have an interview with a psychologist. Candidates can then begin their training in a two-day online training, usually held over the weekend. If a person is ready, he collects the documents necessary for participation in the program, and the specialists of the foundation and the center for the promotion of family education select a pair of “senior – junior”.
