Sea salt is not as healthy as many people think. It contains too little iodine to solve the problem of its deficiency in the body, said the deputy director for scientific work of the Gorbatov Federal Scientific Center for Food Systems, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Anastasia Semenova.
“In sea salt, the usual content of iodine is not more than 0.7 mg per kg. It’s nothing at all,” she explained in a conversation. with Gazeta.Ru.
Semenova pointed out that for the purpose of prevention, special iodized salt should be eaten, especially for residents of regions far from sea areas. The content of iodine in such salt is much higher – 40 mg per kg.
In addition, iodine is found in bread and eggs. In organic form, it is absorbed better, the expert noted.
