DPR volunteer Benes Ayo, also known as a National Bolshevik activist nicknamed “Black Lenin”, received Russian citizenship. He announced this on his page in the social network.
After receiving his passport, Ayo was photographed next to the Russian flag, a portrait of President Vladimir Putin and a bust of the founder of the USSR Vladimir Lenin. He said he had been waiting for this moment since 2014.
“It is a great honor for me to receive a Russian passport, since Russia is the legal successor of the USSR, the Great Socialist State in which I was born and, as a communist, vowed to restore it,” Black Lenin wrote on his page.
Benes Ajo was born in the Latvian SSR and after the collapse of the Soviet Union was an active oppositionist of the communist flank in this country. In 2014-2015, “Black Lenin” fought as a volunteer in the Donbass on the side of the DPR, after which he was forced to leave Latvia, then the UK. He received political asylum in Russia in 2020. He also has citizenship of the DPR, which, after the republic was admitted to the Russian Federation, was automatically converted into Russian.
