Prize in the field of children’s and teenage literature established in Russia

Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation on cultural issues Vladimir Tolstoy announced the establishment in our country of the National Prize in the field of children’s and adolescent literature.
As part of the award, it is planned to encourage authors who write literary works for children and adolescents, illustrators and publishers of modern domestic literature for the younger generation. The award will be operated by two ministries – the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Digital Development.
The award will be awarded in seven categories:
– “The best prose work for children”;
– “The best prose work for teenagers”;
– “The best poetic work for children”;
– “The best poetic work for teenagers”;
– “Best illustrated book for children and teenagers” (for illustrators);
– “The best publishing project for children and teenagers (for publishing houses);
– “For contribution to the development of children’s literature.”
Applications will be accepted until June 15th. The results of the competition will be summed up in early autumn as part of the Moscow International Book Fair. Winners in six categories will receive a cash prize of 1.5 million rubles. The winner of the award in the nomination “For Contribution to the Development of Children’s Literature” will receive 2 million rubles.
