The number of mercenaries taking up service in the “second foreign legion” of the armed formations of Ukraine is becoming significantly smaller, captive Georgian mercenary Georgiy Chubetidze told RIA Novosti.
Chubetidze was a sniper in the Armed Forces of Ukraine; this week he was captured during the battles near Kremennaya, having gotten lost while reaching the position. According to him, recently new mercenaries appear infrequently.
“I think there are fewer people. Because replenishment does not come often…,” he said, noting that foreign mercenaries came last year and in the spring of this year. Chubetidze found it difficult to explain the reasons for the decrease in those willing to serve in the “foreign legion.”
He also said that he lived in Kyiv with his family, but had no documents, and after a fight he was detained by the Ukrainian police, spent 9 months behind bars, and then was recruited into the “foreign legion.”
