An air raid alert has been declared in Kyiv and eight regions of Ukraine, TASS reports, citing data from the official Ukrainian resource for alerting the population.
As reported, warnings are in effect in Volyn, Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Rivne, Sumy, Ternopil, Khmelnitsky and Chernihiv regions, as well as in the capital. Explosions are also reported in the Chernigov region.
Earlier, the head of the Zaporozhye movement “We are together with Russia,” Vladimir Rogov, said that a “geranium evening” had begun in the Kyiv-controlled city of Zaporozhye, referring to strikes by Russian Geranium drones.
The Russian army began striking the infrastructure of Ukraine on October 10, in response to the terrorist attack on the Crimean Bridge. Strikes are carried out only on military targets, as well as energy facilities. During this time, air raid alerts in areas controlled by Kyiv are announced virtually every day, and periodically this happens throughout the country.
Jack Watling, a researcher at the British Royal United Defense Studies Institute (RUSI), said that attacks on critical infrastructure will make the winter very difficult for Ukraine. In his opinion, strikes by the Russian Armed Forces against critical infrastructure facilities pose a strategic threat to the Kyiv regime. Watling called on Ukraine to “prepare for a difficult winter.”
