The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are suspected of causing environmental damage

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle once again disgraced themselves – they were suspected of inconsistency (not to say hypocrisy) when it turned out that they went to the Caribbean on a private jet. This comes just days after the couple attended a conference where participants claimed: “Climate change is affecting our mental health.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex flew more than 4,000 miles on a private jet after the summit, writes the Daily Mail.

Prince Harry and his wife flew to the Caribbean island on a private jet just days after attending a conference on the impact of climate change on mental health.

Harry and Meghan took a Dassault Falcon 7X jet to fly from New Jersey to Canouan after attending the climate summit in New York on October 10, again on a four-hour flight between the exclusive hotel and Atlanta, Georgia.

The couple attended a conference organized by the Healthy Minds project, during which Zach Williams, the son of comedian and actor Robin Williams, told those present that climate change is negatively affecting mental health, especially among young people.

In the past, the couple sought to emphasize their environmental friendliness, recalls the Daily Mail. In a controversial interview with Oprah Winfrey two years ago, Harry cited climate change and mental health as two “urgent issues.”

But this couple is also not new to the use of private jets, the British tabloid does not hide its sarcasm. In 2019, Harry and Meghan came under scrutiny for taking four private jet trips in just 11 days, including one to Sir Elton John’s home in Nice.

Private flights use more fuel per passenger than their commercial counterparts, explains the Daily Mail.

Sussex’s private flights are estimated to have traveled a total of more than 4,000 miles, emitting 9.6 tonnes of CO2.

A source close to Harry said the Falcon 7X belonged to a friend who has property on the island of Canouan (St Vincent and the Grenadines), the Mirror reports.

Sources added that the couple previously took a commercial flight to get to a mental health summit in New York.

Prince Harry has claimed in the past that he flies commercial “99% of his life,” implying that he sometimes uses private jets to “keep his family safe.”

Former MP and Lib Dem leader Norman Baker said the Sussexes were causing unnecessary damage to the environment “with their travel habits” and were hypocritical about the significance of the climate crisis.
